About Me
Megan Hymers

All Things Outdoors
I have always loved observing animals. As a child, I would save all the Insects that flew into our pool and once helped a desert banded gecko that was waterlogged by carefully using tweezers to pull the partially shed skin from over its eyes so it could see again. I had a juvenile southwestern longnose snake that I named Baby and I would read books as the snake stayed curled around my hand. If it has two legs, four, six, or eight, I am curious to learn more about the animal and share it with others.

Education
I graduated in December 2005 from the University of Arizona with a BS degree in Animal Science. The Desert is the place that I know I belong; I am a third generation Tucsonan and my children are members of the Tohono O'odham Tribe. I have been a volunteer for the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum (ASDM) Tortoise Adoption Program since May of 2005.

Why Nature Class?
I was trained by Tinkergarten in 2022 after my oldest son and I had enjoyed virtual classes during the pandemic. There were no local classes (our instructor lived in Flagstaff) so I applied to be an educator with their program. I enjoy watching the way each nature explorer observes and interacts with the environment. Come join a class and find new friends and other ways to play in the great outdoors!
